Jono Bacon Announces Ubuntu Global Jam and Issues Call for Events

Jono Bacon, the Ubuntu Community Manager announces on his blog the Ubuntu Global Jam and issue a call for events.

What is the Ubuntu Global Jam?

The Ubuntu Global Jam is an incredible opportunity for the Ubuntu community to unite together around the a given weekend to work together to improve Ubuntu. Everyone is able to contribute to the Jam, and everyone is welcome and encouraged to get involved. Curious about how to make a real difference to Ubuntu? This is a great chance to make that difference.

The Ubuntu Global Jam incorporates events that have been organized over the world to get Ubuntu contributors and fans together to have a great time and improve Ubuntu.

When is the Ubuntu Global Jam?

The Ubuntu Global Jam will be held over the weekend of April 1-3, 2011.

How can a person or group participate in Ubuntu Global Jam?

What you can do during a Global Jam as it relates to Ubuntu is limited only by your imagination really, however this Global Jam, Bacon says, "Never before has the Ubuntu Global Jam been so important! In this cycle we are shipping Unity as the new desktop interface, and we are going to be working hard together to ensure that as many Unity bugs are squeezed out as possible. This is a great chance to come along and help test Unity, report bugs, fix bugs, triage problems, write documentation, help advocate Ubuntu in your area, and otherwise make a real difference that will benefit others. Together we can make Ubuntu 11.04 the best Ubuntu release yet!"

More information about Ubuntu Global Jam?

More information on organizing a Global Jam can be found on the Ubuntu Global Jam wiki and this week Bacon will discuss the Global Jam during his weekly Ubuntu Community QA Session.
