Kernel 2.6.33 Is Completed

02/25/2010

Linus Torvalds has released another kernel version that, apart from driver updates, has a reworked graphics stack.

The most important new feature in kernel 2.6.33 is probably the Nouveau driver for NVIDIA graphics cards. Torvalds also mentioned Distributed Replicated Block Device (DRBD) network cluster mirroring as a notable new feature. Many changes also went into the graphics stack

As usual, the drivers had detailed improvements ranging from Alsa and WLAN to the new USB 3.0. The changelog lists all the new changes. Torvalds reported in his announcement that the merge window for kernel 2.6.34 is now open.
